On this dataset, we conduct truth discovery considering spatial-temporal correlations (referred to as TD-corr), and compare with the baseline that does not consider the correlations. The whole process of collection lasts over a month. From each platform, we collect temperature forecasts at different days. We collect weather fore-cast data from three weather forecast platforms (Wunder-ground, HAM weather, and World Weather Online) for 147 locations within New York City Area. In such cases, many objects may receive observations from unreliable sources, and thus reliable information borrowed from correlated objects is important.Ī preliminary study on weather condition estimation is demonstrated in Figure 1. Especially, taking correlations into consideration will be more helpful when the coverage rate is low, i.e., sources only provide observations for a small portion of the objects. Such correlation information can greatly benefit the truth discovery process-information obtained from reliable sources can be propagated over all correlated objects, such that the aggregated information is more trustworthy. To apply truth discovery to spatial-temporal data, it is important to take into consideration the spatial-temporal relationships between objects in the truth discovery process. These and other applications demonstrate the broader impact of truth discovery on multi-source information integration. Typical examples include the integration of Web information for structured knowledge base construction and the aggregation of user-contributed information on crowdsourcing platforms. The success of truth discovery methods has been clearly demonstrated in a wide variety of tasks where decisions have to be made based on the correct information from diverse sources. In truth discovery, the following two processes are tightly coupled: The sources that provide true information more often will be assigned higher weights, and the information that is supported by reliable sources will be regarded as truths. In light of this challenge, the topic of truth discovery has gained increasing popularity recently due to its ability to estimate source reliability degrees and infer true information. To achieve this, a major challenge has to be addressed, that is, there is usually neither prior knowledge nor training data for the derivation of source reliability. Intuitively, if we can identify and put more weight on the reliable sources, the aggregation accuracy can be significantly improved. The drawback of this simple approach is obvious: It treats all the sources equally and fails to capture the variety in their reliability. One straightforward aggregation approach is to take majority voting or averaging. Therefore, we have to aggregate the information from multiple sources as this will likely cancel out the errors of individual sources and extract the true information. Facing the daunting scale of data, it is unrealistic to expect human to label or tell which piece of information is correct. Before we can make good use of the data, we need to identify the true facts among the conflicting information from multiple data sources, where a data source can be a database, a website, a sensor, or even a person. One important challenge in big data is information veracity, i.e., information sources might not be reliable. Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Biologists have observed that adult female anacondas do not move around much during the breeding season, yet males seem to flock to them from all directions. The female is thought to leave a scent trail to attract a male, but she may also produce some sort of airborne chemical signal. Having a ball! Anaconda courtship often lasts several weeks during the spring season. Anacondas can go weeks or months without eating following a big meal.Īt the San Diego Zoo, anacondas eat pre-killed rodents and rabbits. The anaconda often takes its meal into the water, where perhaps the buoyancy helps maneuver the food to the proper position for swallowing. Jaws attached by stretchy ligaments allow the snake to swallow its prey whole. Like its boa brethren, the anaconda kills its prey by coiling its muscular body around the creature and squeezing until the prey can no longer breathe. They are not very active hunters but instead use a “watch and wait” approach as their prey swims by or comes to the water to drink. The diet consists of wild pigs, deer, birds, turtles, capybaras, caimans, and even jaguars. Anacondas rest and sun themselves along the bank of a river or in tree branches that hang over water along riverbanks so the snakes can quickly drop into the water if needed. Their eyes and nasal openings are on top of their head, so the snakes can wait for prey while remaining nearly hidden by the water. The anaconda likes to be in or near water and spends a large part of its time in the murky waters that help to hide, as well as support, its tremendous body.Īnacondas are excellent swimmers and divers. This hot, humid region with its dense foliage offers excellent habitat for such a large snake, which fits well into this world. The anaconda lives over a vast area of tropical river systems and swamps in South America, east of the Andes. 9/1/2023 0 Comments Stainless steel tubeNPS - 'Nominal Pipe Size' and DN - 'Diametre Nominal' Pressure loss nomogram for hot water steel pipes. Since WW2, stainless steel has also played a key role in the defense sector. A good quality piece of stainless steel serves as a buffer against the damaging effects of wind and water, maintaining safety and stability. When it comes to infrastructure, the corrosion resistance of stainless steel helps extend the lifespan of structural and architectural projects. In the medical industry, stainless steel is found in nearly all the equipment that doctors use in their work as well as the many of the small, intricate parts of hospital machinery (such as the EKG or ECG) for monitoring patients. These applications can include food handling/processing (i.e., kitchen sinks, cutlery), medical instruments (i.e., thermostats), hardware, appliances, and structural/architectural uses (i.e., bridges, airport roofs). Unlike ordinary steel, stainless isn’t prone to corrosion, rusting or staining from water exposure – giving it many versatile applications. The most common of these steps include hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing, descaling/ pickling, cutting and finishing. You can have everything from stainless steel tubing and stainless steel pipes to a stainless steel bar and stainless steel sheet.ĭepending on which grade or shape is being produced, a piece of stainless steel may go through some processing steps multiple times before reaching the desired appearance or characteristics. Stainless steel also comes in many different shapes and dimensions. There are more than 100 grades of stainless steel – most are classified into five groups in the family of stainless steels: The exact composition is strictly measured and assessed throughout the alloying process to ensure the steel demonstrates the required qualities. Other elements can be added to increase corrosion resistance (nickel) and formability (molybdenum). This type of steel also contains varied amounts of other elements such as carbon, silicon and manganese. Most studies demonstrating aloe vera’s ability to improve the appearance of scars pertain to burn or surgical scarring, but anecdotal evidence suggests that similar positive improvements can be seen with acne scars.
